Hi Everybody! Welcome to the Gaspipe Band’s blog.
Our music is a combination of RnB, funk with enough African percussion to make it sort of world. Thanks for checking us out.
The nickname Jim “Gaspipe” Thompson started out as a joke— kind of like Louie “Lugwrench” Scarmuchi. But on second thought, we realized that gaspipe has a significant meaning in Nigeria, where a couple of our band members are from. We also realized that all the instruments I play are gaspipes, and, as a very organic friend of mine pointed out, we are all gaspipes. With that kind of resonance, who could resist?
The guys in the band are a gathering of some of my favorite players I’ve worked with over the years and I am proud to be associated with each and every one of them.
So pull up a chair, kick off your shoes and take a little trip into the musical world of the Gaspipe Band.
